A cruel way to lose
I always believe in a saying “offence is the best form of defense.” For the whole campaign this season, that’s what Lyon has been holding to, at least until the 83rd minute of today’s game. With seven minute to go, Houllier brought a defender in for a striker, sacrificing the philosophy of the team. And in those 7 minutes, Lyon’s dream of the Champions League semi-final was ended in a very cruel way. They were on the brink of the semi-final with an away goal in hand, but three minutes from time, Milan scored their second and took the tie their way. Two minutes into the added time, Milan scored their third and the game was over.It was a beautiful game with both teams up each other’s throat, trying to net in the winner. Lyon seemed to be the more dangerous team throughout the whole game. But it was Milan that they were playing, the most experienced team left in the league. And the experience proved to be vital.
